We endeavour to create meaningful built environments, thoughtfully customized to bring calm, wellbeing, and comfort. Each project seeks a sense of “place”— designed for usability, efficiency, and belonging.

What do we do?

Tabula Rasa is a Bangalore-based architecture and design studio working across architecture, interiors, and landscape. Projects are approached holistically, where spatial planning, material choices, and crafted details evolve together to create environments that feel coherent and enduring.

Sustainability forms an integral part of the studio’s outlook. We actively pursue opportunities to develop environmentally responsible buildings that engage with climate, vernacular knowledge, and self-reliant systems for energy and water.

The name Tabula Rasa — meaning “blank slate” — reflects our approach to design: each project begins without preconceived ideas, allowing design to emerge fresh from context, people, and purpose.

How do we do?

Design develops through close listening and collaboration with clients, craftsmen, and local builders. Long-standing partnerships — including skilled carpenters from Barmer, Rajasthan — enable interiors, furniture, and architectural elements to be custom designed and handcrafted as integral parts of each project.

Attention to detailing, material sensitivity, and careful execution guide the process, sometimes complemented by thoughtfully sourced antique pieces that lend depth and authenticity to interiors.

Who are we?

Tabula Rasa is led by Architect Hetal Pandya, a graduate of the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad, who directs all architecture and interior design work.
