A home becomes truly unique and personalized through the belongings and cherished items of its residents. In this case, a 1600 sq. ft. flat was designed for the parents of a young NRI couple who were relocating from Hyderabad. The challenge was to accommodate their collection of knick-knacks, curios, and familiar furniture, which were so essential to their comfort that the absence of these items might leave them feeling disoriented in their new space. Each item, therefore, required a dedicated place.

To meet this need, we designed sliding wardrobes that cleverly incorporated their Godrej store-well behind the shutters, combining functionality with style. The overall color scheme of the home is understated, featuring muted tones with vibrant accents. Splashes of color come from the TV back panel, a teal three-seater sofa, and lively cushions, rugs, and window treatments, creating a bright, airy atmosphere. Contrasting wood tones add depth and warmth, grounding the furniture and complementing the predominant neutral beige throughout the home.

In the grandmother’s room, we’ve added soft, upholstered wall-mounted headboards behind the beds and custom PU-painted wardrobes in a specific shade of sky-blue. This color choice evokes memories of her ancestral home in Andhra Pradesh, adding a personal touch to the space. The kitchen, finished again in beige with high-gloss acrylic laminate and glass shutters, includes a dedicated pooja cabinet. Ample space has been left in front of this pooja area to ensure easy access and unobstructed movement within the kitchen, balancing functionality with reverence.
