Project Overview
This highway motel is conceived as a comfortable stopover that combines the efficiency of a motel with the sophistication and amenities of a hotel. Located along the Ahmedabad–Rajkot NH47, the project responds to both fast-moving highway traffic and longer-stay guests through a clear and layered site strategy.

Site Planning and Highway Interface
The site is organised with an active public edge along the highway. A series of shops is integrated into the front court, creating a lively, street-like frontage that engages travellers and establishes a strong visual presence from the road. This activated edge also acts as a buffer, moderating noise and movement before one transitions into the more private areas of the motel.
Spatial Organisation and Program
Guest rooms are located on the upper floors, set back from the highway to ensure privacy and acoustic comfort. The ground floor accommodates two restaurants positioned for easy access from both motel guests and visitors, allowing them to function independently while remaining part of the overall layout.
The rear of the site is planned as a quieter zone, housing the swimming pool and outdoor leisure spaces. This inward-facing arrangement creates a gradual transition from the dynamic highway edge to a calmer environment for rest and relaxation.
Ancillary Functions and Services
A gau-shala is located at the far corner of the property, separated from public areas yet efficiently connected for service use. Its placement supports on-site supply of fresh dairy products while maintaining operational clarity and hygiene.

Climate-Responsive Design
Climatic considerations guide both planning and built form. Shaded courts, controlled openings, and sheltered circulation spaces respond to the hot and dry conditions of the region. These strategies enhance thermal comfort while allowing the project to remain open, legible, and well-connected to its surroundings.
